CLIENTS OFTEN COME TO US FOR SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE THEY CAN HAVE THEIR PICTURES TAKEN FOR THEIR ENGAGEMENT AND POST WEDDING SHOOTS. OUR FIRST BLOG OF SUGGESTIONS IS STILL ONE OF THE MOST VIEWED BLOGS ON OUR WEBSITE (YAY!!!) SO WE WANTED TO DO AN UPDATE TO IT.
You know how we say, we go to the professionals when it’s not us… and photography is not our profession so we called on our buddy Kyle Archibald to help get you the deets!
Soooo in no particular order, here’s what he suggests:
Coffee Shops: A bit unorthodox…but sometimes sharing a cold brew together can result in a few laughs and awesome pictures. Plus…coffee shops these days have such an awesome ambiance to them. (If you’re a coffee lover, this adds personality to your shoot and helps to capture something you both love)
Downtown: Don’t count out the city on a Sunday morning. People are hardly out, there’s little traffic, and if the sun is hitting just right, your engagement session would be spectacular. P.s, Don’t count out rainy mornings, a little rain is a blessing in disguise for pictures! (This one made us go hmmmmm.. but hey, he’s got a point! It’s different especially for couples coming in from away and want to capture “a bit of Trinidad”!)
Drew Manor: More geared towards weddings, but the rustic nature of the grounds makes for endless photo options. (Paid)
Hacienda Jacana: Nestled in Talparo, you’ll honestly feel like you’re getting lost heading there. But stick to the location on google maps. The views from the cottages are breathtaking when the sunset hits just right above the lake there. (Paid)
Mahogany Ridge: Located in La Finette, this Bed & Breakfast offers a spectacular view of the North Coast. If you’re a dog person, you’ll be pleased to know that there are three of the friendliest doggos that either mind their own business, or photo-bomb at their own leisure. (Paid)
San Salvador: Located in Gran Couva, this location boasts hiking trails, and breathtaking views of the Northern Range and Caroni Plains. What could make a more epic backdrop for your photos? (Paid)
The Hilton: whether it be a stay to get away, or wedding prep, both architecture and views make the perfect backdrop for your photos. (Paid, if you’re not a guest)
Macqueripe Beach: A bit small, but if you’re willing to get splashed and your photographer is adventurous enough to accept the challenge, you won’t be disappointed! (Heck, just the view from the steps on the way down is picturesque enough to get started before you even get splashed. A trash the dress maybe?)
Wild Fowl Trust: A spot I’ve hardly seen used and I can’t comprehend why. The birds, the wetlands, the views are beautiful!
Waterville Estate: A beauty nestled in the hills of Santa Cruz. The options are vast and will give you a variety of backgrounds at the same location. (P.S. works even better if you get married at the location as well)
Home (Bonus): Don’t knock it just yet, an engagement session at home? Where you’re most comfortable? You know where the wine glasses are and you can set the mood with your own music? Yes. More of this please!
TOBAGO… oh Beautiful TOBAGO!
We have not forgotten you and you will always have a very special place in our heart. We were so happy to see Kyle included venues here. Fun fact: our boss lady got married at one of these locations and from her pictures we totally get why!
Villa Soleil, Tobago: Hidden in Arnos Vale, just outside Plymouth, this Villa boasts a spectacular view on the balcony which is ideal for weddings, or even engagement sessions. A walk downstairs to the jetty would blow your mind even more! (Paid)
The Mangroves, Tobago: Rustic Motherland! When you find those little spots where the light hits perfectly in between all of the trees, you’d realize how perfect this spot is. Oh, the view from the jetty is nice too..
Pigeon Point Heritage Park, Tobago: Boasting one of the most beautiful sunset views ever, this spot lets you take advantage of everything from the jetty, to the tall trees to make the most of your photos. (Paid, if your wedding is not at the venue)
Stonehaven Beach, Tobago: Home to some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed in Tobago (yes I know there’s more), this spot is perfect for anything from a family shoot, to an intimate engagement session.
There you go, fourteen options for you to add to those listed in our first blog! We have a hunch there will be a part 3 to this as we learn of new options all the time! Is there anywhere you know of not listed? Let us know in the comments below!
As usual, if you will like similar tips like this send us a message letting us know what you will like us to share on and we’ll be sure to get on it!
