OK. So there is no perfect wedding. Or is there?
We define perfection by how you enjoy the day rather than how things run because, the truth is, events hardly ever run perfectly; there is ALWAYS something happening in the background – whether you’re aware of it or not.
So we executed our first wedding for 2020, and to our surprise, the day after, it went viral! There were a couple reasons for this:
a. The detailed coverage by a blogger friend in attendance (the spark)
b. The bride’s dress (the gas to the fire)
c. The details – venue, decor etc (full blaze)
In the comments, the ‘P’ word and all variations of it kept coming up – Perfect, perfection. Hmmmm. No, we didn’t see this one coming but then we weren’t surprised.
The wedding was different! Every aspect of it! People will always be drawn to different. Different makes you stand out. The reviews were awesome, but they too were a little different from normal. Vendors commented on “little” things – like the amount of time the bride had to dress, the couple’s vibe (oh this is a big one). So we reflected and here are 5 things we think can be learned from this:
1. BE CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WANT
From our initial consultation, the bride was very clear on what she wanted. The groom was very much in line with it. By the time we got through the 3rd venue site visit, it was also now very clear to us. She was consistent in what she commented on and was looking for so it helped us to get the vision really quickly.
So, be clear on what you want and when you have it figured out…
2. STICK TO WHAT YOU WANT
Hold firm on your decision. Stay consistent with what you’re looking for. It helps those who are in a position to help you, to do so easier. If you keep changing your mind, then it becomes difficult to follow along with the vision. It may also require you to tune out voices around you. Sometimes those around you don’t get you and you become discouraged. Please don’t! Speak with your planner/vendor about the idea, they have a tad bit more experience and are in a better position to give you advice on your ideas. Don’t be afraid to…
3. BE YOU UNAPOLOGETICALLY
There was no doubt that our bride made no apologies for what she wanted, as “left field” as it was. Heck, the ceremony location she chose was even a shocker to the venue owner! And we were here for it all! It checked all the boxes and we told her it was possible soooo, it was possible. Once we said yes, it was a done deal for her. That was it. She checked that off. So from that we say…
4. RELAX AND TRUST YOUR VENDORS
The beauty of knowing what you want and having the vendor team support it means they can now use their expertise to help you get just that, once you allow them to. Trust that they get it. Trust that they will do all in their power to make it happen. It’s the first time for you, not for them. Once you have clearly explained what you want, and they have shown you that they “get it”, allow them to do their job! Magic happens when you do.
OK OK. It’s your wedding day and we get that it’s hard to just leave it to “strangers” but it all becomes easier to do when you.
5. HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER
You share your vision and story once and we work it from there. We hand pick your vendors based on you, your vision and who we think will help bring it all to life. We sprinkle details of you throughout the day because, well, we know you! We listen and learn. Again, when you are consistent and clear on what you want, we can confidently decide and execute on your behalf! Throughout the process you will realise that we get you, and that you have nothing to worry about because we have it covered. You then relax and have time to dream up even “crazier” details that we then tell you “yes” to!
Working with a wedding planner means having someone who knows how to maneuver the market and help get you what you want. It’s an investment in you and your dream and one that brings great returns, like a perfect wedding!
Did things go super smoothly with this viral wedding? Of course not! But the video and pictures tell a different story! One that our couple and their family and friends will remember for the rest of their lives! A story that we are honoured to be a part of!
We would love to help you with your story. Send us a message and let us know what is your biggest challenge in having the perfect wedding.
